An adventure for avid bikers to explore
Salta & Jujuy, Northwest Argentina

Explore NW Argentina’s highlights biking under the green canopy of a cloud forest, on white salt flats, from a pass at nearly 5.000 metres to high valleys, through altitude vineyards, whitewashed towns and coloured mountains.

Bike in a different landscape on each day. Test your skills on diverse roads that offer multiple challenges. Bike on paved and gravel roads, up, down, rolling and flat. Altitude is the challenge. Landscape diversity is the reward.

Half-day supported biking. Lunch at regional restaurants, stay at small hotels. Time to explore the small villages. All is taken care of: transport, lodging, guides, bikes and helmets, bike mechanic in support vehicle, snacks.

For experienced bikers that want to explore some of northern Argentina’s highlights while also going off the beaten path.

Itinerary

Day 1

SALTA Arrive in Salta. Afternoon city walk, briefing and welcome drinks. Meet your guide and learn about the next days.

Day 2

YUNGAS Morning biking through the Yungas cloud forest from Salta to Jujuy. Lunch. Sleep at the foot of the Mountain of the 7 Colours in Purmamarca.

Day 3

BIKE ON SALT Drive up the Cuesta de Lipán and bike down to Salinas Grandes from a pass at 4000 m.a.s.l., Bike on Salinas Grandes. Regional lunch. Sleep in a small mining town in the Altiplano, San Antonio de los Cobres.

Day 4

ABRA DEL ACAY Bike from the highest point on Ruta 40 at 4895 m.a.s.l and built following the Inca Trail. Bike from high mountain down to fields with peppers and corn. Find a spot for dinner in the small town of Cachi.

Day 5

PONCHOS Bike along the Camino de los Artesanos. Arrive in Molinos and spend the evening at a colonial Hacienda.

Day 6

CARDONES Bike through red formations and giant cactus and descend from Calchaquí to Salta via Los Cardones National Park and the Cuesta del Obispo. Asado and empanadas regional lunch. Return to Salta.
