Itinerary

Day 1

SALTA Arrive in Salta. Afternoon city walk, briefing and welcome drinks. Meet your guide and learn about the next days.

Day 2

RED MOUNTAINS Drive to Cafayate, 3-hour hike through red formations. Lunch and goat cheese tasting.Evening in the small town of Cafayate.

Day 3

WINE COUNTRY Morning hike to the mountains west of Cafayate on ancient trails. Evening dinner and altitude wine tasting.

Day 4

RUTA 40 Drive north to Cachi, explore Quebrada de las Flechas. Hike near Seclantas. Arrive in Cachi during the late afternoon, dinner at a small local restaurant.

Day 5

LAS PAILAS Full day hike on trails full of archaeological evidence, go high close to 4000 metres, at the foot of the Nevado de Cachi. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 6

CUESTA DEL OBISPO drive through Los Cardones National Park, and as you descend to the lower valleys find you trail and hike through altitude grasslands that transition from a desert high valley to low agriculture fields. Continue to Salta.
